Confirmed Felix's observations. This is a bug with wmode (windowless mode) in Firefox 3.0.

This bug is exposed in Flash 10 beta 2 (the first release that supports wmode) and new releases of swfdec (also with wmode support), and it is not related to PulseAudio or libflashsupport (a previous cause of crashes with Flash). The issue affects 32bit and 64bit systems, but nspluginwrapper prevents the entire firefox process from dying for 64bit users, so the bug is more difficult to isolate for 64bit users.
