I would like to echo Mr Miller's comments. At the very least this bug should be escalated to raise its severity level.

In reply to Mr Bunzil, one could tell whether the master password is required in the session if a flag existed to indicate whether a tab exists that required a password. Not sure if that approach would be possible.

An entirely viable alternative would be a feature that requested the master password early in the startup process. 'Prompt for master password on startup?'.
