Comment 418 for bug 195698

I have been having this problem for a while and finally got around to finding the bug report. I normally have 20-30 tabs open, mostly on the same half-dozen internal company sites. Restarting firefox becomes a chore.

The fix I would like to see would go like this: if a tab other than the active tab needs a password, it would not display a prompt until that tab is activated. If that site has already been authenticated (in another tab) by the time the tab is activated, no prompt would be presented when activating the tab.

For bonus points, as soon as I authenticate a site in one tab, all other tabs for the same site could resume loading in the background.
