I wonder if this is "annoying for a small subset of the general user population", because the general user population is just not setting their master password. Since the master password does not need to be set, I'd bet that it's a very small portion of the non-technical user base.

And we're not talking about annoying in my opinion, we're talking about incredibly vexatious to the point where even thinking about restarting firefox is an extremely stressful endeavour.
