One of the major use problems with this particular functionality bug is that the application (firefox) *is* unusable for the duration of the startup sequence. Indeed, it is the master password dialogs themselves that make the application so difficult to interact with (loss of keyboard focus, switching of keyboard focus while typing in subsequent dialogs). I agree with the comment that blocking access to the master password dialog with a mutex is the short term fix and then fix the overall problem (security, usages, etc) of the master password dialog in a subsequent release. I am happy to test any solution that is provided.
