This most certainly is a regression. Both TB and FF 3 exhibit this problem, TB and FF 2 do not. This particular bug might not be a regression, but the symptoms of it certainly are, and end users are going to think so.

I understand from discussion on IRC that the size of this problem is too invasive on the back end to fix this close to release, so nominating for 1.9.0.1 instead of 1.9
