Bug persists on Karmic Koala final (upgraded from beta to: 2.6.31-14-generic x86_64 SMP)

I tried:
aticonfig --initial
aticonfig --acpi-services=off

and I keep getting the black screen of death no matter what.
xorg-driver-fglrx version: 2:8.660-0ubuntu4

If needed I can provide log files (even if they don't report any errors).
