'Upgrade' surely you mean downgrade or regress - my laptop lid switch doesn't work with those drivers and 3D support seems to be lacking and logging faults doesn't seem to lead anywhere (89860). Time for a new laptop me thinks, even though it works a treat it needs a bit more pep.
