Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

The last Evolution in intrepid ( 2.23.91-0ubuntu1 ) doesn't refresh the INBOX of my IMAP account (it's a dovecot server).

If I check my mail with the webmail, all is fine. Evolution still display the list of my INBOX as it was a few days ago. If I try to retrieve one of those mail (now deleted) I get :

Unable to retrieve message
Could not find message body in FETCH response.

Note that other folders are working fine. It means that I see mail that are filtered to go in other folders (Once, one of my folder had the same problem).

The workaround so far : completely remove the IMAP account, remove the imap folder in .evolution and recreate the account again. It works for a few day and then, it's frozen again.

This bug now happen for my second IMAP account and for all the folders (it was not the case previously).

Am I the only one to see this bug ? (which is very important because it makes Evolution completely useless as a mailer)

Lionel, there has not be lot of bugs about similar issues no and some evolution versions during the unstable cycle can have created issues, you should try to ping srag on #evolution on irc.gnome.org, he's one of the upstream guys and responsive to those issues and quick at fixing bugs once he has the required details

The Evolution 2.24.0-0ubuntu2 package still has this bug. I did an upgrade from Hardy to the Intrepid beta today and all of my IMAP accounts got the double message glitch. (My IMAP server is Courier.)

Per the duplicate ticket, this was the fix for me:

1. Click "Folder" -> "Subscriptions".
2. Choose the IMAP account from the "Server" pulldown menu.
3. Uncheck the "Inbox" folder.
4. Click the "Close" button.
5. Restart Evolution.

The Inbox folder will be automatically resubscribed and correctly resummarized.

The new package worked here, but I had already done what Darik suggested
in this message before, so current users with the problem could need to
follow this steps to get the Inbox to update correctly.

Thanks for fixing this bug! :-D

On an offtopic note, I have to say that I notice Evolution faster
dealing with IMAP accounts, I'm pleased with the new version. If only
the progress dialog worked as supposed (it's either 0% or 100%)… It
would be preferable to have an activity indicator like the browsers use,
in the top right corner, informing that it is receiving/sending messages
and drop the dialog.

Cheers

I still have this issue. Now with Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. Some emails are shown in the inbox others aren't. Most of them have the "Could not find message body in FETCH response."-error. I read somewhere on the internet, that this was a symptom of a bug in Evolution, concerning the use of FETCH UID - which is not used proberly. I really hope that you guys can help with this issue or at least temporarily a 'workaround'. None of the above mentioned action are working. (They did work for me, when I was using 8.04 Hardy Heron ....a simple "refresh" and the messages got fetch'ed).
Good luck :-)
