At me, it is reproducible:
1. get message from someone/another account
2. notification will be shown
3. open window, notify bubble shows message twice

Yes it is very easy to reproduce it: just wait for someone to send you a message (without opening the conversation first) and click on the messaging menu just after you received it (in fact quickly enough to open the conversation before the "old" notification disapears).

I found a workaround for this bug. Uncheck the option: "Enable notifications when the chat is not focused" in "Preferences>Notifcations

And that doenst only disable notifications?

I'm using v2.32.0.1
It only disables the notifications. I'm not sure but i guess one drawback could be that you don't get notifications when the window is opened and somewhere hidden behind another window.

I have this too. I disable bubble notifications so it doesn't bother me. I still hear the two sounds. Maverick Meerkat is the first time I ever encountered this bug.

I also experience this bug. It does not natter if I choose to go via the chat messages menu or open the chat window directly from the contact list. If the the first notification has not yet disappeared, then the text is doubled in that notification. If the old notification has disappeared, another will pop up containing the same text.
