Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I could not figure out what the login passphrase was so I just uninstalled the whole thing using the instructions at:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EncryptedPrivateDirectory

I then reinstalled it, but for some reason, I still can't get the Private Directory icon to show up on the desktop like it used too. I will try searching around for the answer.
