Because only add packages in stable version. Maybe the 1.1.0 version could be in Jaunty but if there are not serious bugs in the Intrepid one they don't update.

Please, for the repos in Jaunty, sync to 1.1.0.

Take a look at bug #275375 [1]. I can see from the changelog that this package isn't based on the one from Debian. We are trying to not diverge a lot, if that isn't needed. Maybe it would be good if the version from Debian gets synced first, and then upgraded to 1.1.0 in Ubuntu. I'm not sure if it's ok to do it in one upload (one diff file for both tasks), but it might be. It would be good to ask someone else for opinion before working on 1.1.0 upgrade.

They have packages for Ubuntu here, why don't use them for the repositories?

Hi all,

I'm the current Debian maintainer for Deluge.

Deluge 1.1.2 just entered debian-experimental. The packaging delay is
due to licensing problem: source tarball has been repackaged removing a
file (in addition to the old repackaging work).

Who is the actual maintainer for Ubuntu? Why don't you wait for sync
with Debian instead of forking packaging work?

I'm really interested in cooperating with the actual maintainer.

Thanks,

That's what I said few posts before, and that's the way we should do this.

> I'm really interested in cooperating with the actual maintainer.

We don't have an actual maintainer for the package, and everyone can
work on it (provide new upstream versions, preparing syncs/merges from
Debian, preparing patches). But it is possible that one person is
doing the most of the work on some package. You can check the
changelog [1]. It seems that in past Deluge has been directly synced
from Debian with no changes to the packaging. If no one files a sync
request I'll do it myself later. Actually, this bug report can be just
modified so it states that we should sync 1.1.2 from Debian.

Hi Cristian,

Thanks for your work on this. I'd also be interested in working with you on this from the Ubuntu side. I got the required version of libtorrent synced in and pushed to stay in sync with the change from deluge-torrent to deluge. I should have contacted you before proposing an update, but we were getting lot's of nudges from impatient users. I'm subscribed to the Debian PTS page for Deluge to keep up to date with what you are doing. Please let me know if there is any thing you need done on the Ubuntu side.

P.S. I'll backport the Debian Experimental packages to my Intrepid an Jaunty PPAs for testing.

Because that's the way it is done. There is no need to do the same
thing twice (packaging work). We regularly sync/merge packages from
Debian, so in this way we minimize the diff between our and Debian's
version. It is possible afterwards to update the package to 1.1.4,
until Feature freeze (which is on February 19th, if I remember
correctly). So, the main point is that we tend not to differ a lot, if
we really don't need to. I hope this answer clarifies the situation a
bit. Here are some possibly useful links:

Hi Andrew,

really thanks for your cooperation. I'd be glad if you managed the sync
request process for the following packages during the Feature Freeze
(i.e. when packages are not automatically synced from Debian, if I've
correctly understood):

libtorrent-rasterbar
deluge
qbittorrent

AFAICS you already filed sync request for those packages some days ago,
so I think you are interested in working with all of them in Ubuntu.

Further, please feel free to contact me every time our cooperation is
needed (bugs, patches, merges, ...).

Thanks,

Just waiting on an ACK for the sync from some one higher up the food chain. Don't worry, I can pretty much guarantee this will make it into Jaunty.

If you're feeling impatient though, I have synced deluge (1.1.2.dfsg-1) in my PPA:
