okay I had the problem with failed to initial Hal at startup.

After reading many posts here is what i did to fix it:

in /etc/rc2.d/

I changed S12hal to S13hal using the following in terminal

'sudo mv /etc/rc2.d/S12hal /etc/rc2.d/S13hal'

This was a fresh install of Gutsy RC1 64bit.
