George, for me it looks like that your computer is not discovering your printer at all. Is it turned on? Is it a USB printer? Is the cable OK?

Can you do

sudo lsusb
sudo lsusb -vvv
dmesg
ls -l /dev/usb/lp* /dev/usblp*

and post the output here?
