Turning on "Force synchronization between X and GLX" fixes all problems.

NVidia 9600 M, Ubuntu Jauntu 9.10 with all updates.

I haven't noticed any slowdowns.

On another machine with NV 7900 and KDE4 I haven't noticed any problems, probably kwin is turning synchronization by default...
