Can you please attach the output of "apt-get update -o Debug::pkgAcquire=true"
to the bugreport? Is there anything unusual about your setup? a proxy? a
non-intel architecture?

Can you also send me a copy of the:
archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_hoary_Release
archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_hoary_Release.gpg
files in /var/lib/apt/lists/?
