I have the same problem. No sound using ubuntu 23.04 on a on ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16 2023 G634JZ laptop. I can only ear sound with headphones. I have also tried with xubuntu 22.04 and 23.04 and the same result: no sound from internal speakers.
