This is the official Debian fix, extracted from the latest acpi-support Debian package: http://ftp.at.debian.org/debian/pool/main/a/acpi-support/acpi-support_0.103-5_i386.deb .

The attached file, 90-hdparm.sh goes to the following two directories:
/etc/acpi/start.d
/etc/acpi/resume.d

That's all.
