confirming the problem EVEN when on AC power,

(also confirming that you can circumnavigate the problem by setting "hdparm -B 255 /dev/sda" and entering the correct values in /etc/hdparm.conf),

Dell Vostro 1000 (less than 2 weeks old, had about 1450 Load_Cycle_Counts on 13 hours of activity)
HD is a 120Gb Seagate ST9120822AS
