Sharply spotted! I've upgraded the bios now but the issue remain. I have noticed that there seem to be something weird with my installation, though. Not all startup applications are being executed (like Empathy and nm-applet), I have to run them manually. Maybe this is related to startup and shutdown scripts. There was a problem after installing the live CD, I had to manually make the user the installation program created into administrator and superuser. Also, there is a program called "Install RELEASE" in System -> Administration. Is my installation running like a live CD?
