Concerning the --prefix=/usr.. the sources of the brother cups wrapper packages does not even have makefiles but it's possible to fix this with sed directly in the sources and then to copy the files in the right place. However, the LPR packages contains binary files and no source at all. Jeremy Schoenhaar and Martin Pitt will look if it's possible to change the directory for the LPR packages.
