Comment 47 for bug 215728

I can confirm all of the above, especially the hammering of the hard disk and firefox being on top of top, after upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy on Kubuntu.

I have now disabled firefox checking for attack sites and suspected forgery sites in Preferences -> Security.

Is there anything else to be done? I fear for my hard disk.

The peak I/O activity is so intense that I cannot move mouse focus from one firefox tab to another for two or three minutes. It is worth fixing this problem fast.
