Comment 25 for bug 215728

There's a thread at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=759673 complaining that some users are seeing painful amounts of disk IO during safebrowsing updates.

I'm not sure how widespread this is, but regardless I think we can help this a lot with some index and cache size tweaking. I'm working on getting some numbers and a patch together now.
