My iMac 6.1 (late 2006) need the amd64+mac image to boot (DVD only).
This machine has a 32 bit EFI/firmware (non upgradable) and a core 2 duo. Does'nt boot with amd64 only, but does with all 32 bit images.
So, my opinion is that amd64+mac images are necessary if it does not make to much work for the bave developpers. Thks
