I woke up this morning, and I get this error message. What happened?

-- it was working last night.
-- ssh-add -l says everything is there.
-- above means that ssh-agent is running
-- contents of /tmp and /tmp/keyring-XXX look OK
-- SSH_AUTH_SOCK=0 ssh wherever works

System: ubuntu 14.04
Uptime: about a month

Why is something that worked fine for a month suddenly stop working in the morning?
