Sakumatti Luukkonen: I had a similar problem -- I use Super+p frequently as a custom keyboard binding (switching workspaces). Since my latest apt-get upgrade this resulted in screen flicker or unwanted resolution changes, as well as preventing the keypress from reaching my window manager. Thanks for helping me narrow down the issue to gnome-settings-daemon!

I found the following workaround. Using gconf-editor, find the following conf key:
/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/xrandr/active
And set it to false (not checked). The change should be effective immediately after the edit.

This may disable other useful behavior, but I haven't personally noticed any ill effects. I could imagine it might impact settings proper display settings on login, though.
