@MatthiasA - There is a workaround -- boot with this kernel option (see comment #29): acpi_osi=\"!Windows 2009\"

Please try that on your Precision M4400 to verify that it fixes the problem and is indeed the same bug. Feedback to this bug report will be appreciated.
