Andrea - thank you for your comments. I do appreciate your attention to my concerns. I have one final question before I shut up.

What is your/Canonical's advice to users experiencing this bug on Unity-2D on Precise? There are a few workarounds presented/discussed in this bug report, but in would be good to know the official Canonical recommendation. And can that advice be added to the release notes for Ubuntu 12.04.02 (and possibly 12.04 and 12.04.1 as well) on the Ubuntu Wiki?
