John, this is why we test the solution. Should someone implement a fix, I will volunteer for testing.
We need to ensure that this fix works across the board for compiz, metacity, popular default themes, etc. single monitor, dual monitor. ATI/nvidia/Intel graphics (if that matters).
This needs to be scoped ASAP for 10.04+.
