Do save often :) or wait for soon-to-be released next stable version 0.48.1 (development snapshots are not recommended for productive work). Also note that some of the features in the development builds are not part of the 0.48 branch (milestoned for 0.49 [0]).

Not related to this bug (or Snow Leopard): it was discussed in the comments of bug #406662 (and related issue bug #476678), but has not yet been addressed or solved in the sources. You could file a new report though (the error happens on Leopard, too).
