Here are two workarounds:

1. Just download the sources for gtk-gnutella 0.96.5 from SourceForge:
   https://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=4467

   Then compile it yourself following these simple instructions:
   https://gtk-gnutella.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gtk-gnutella/trunk/gtk-gnutella/README.Debian

2. If the above is too hard for you and you really don't know anyone else using
   Gnutella you could connect to, try connecting manually to this peer as long
   as it's still online:

   tls:yang.cloud.bishopston.net:53615
