Do you have any update about this bug ?
For me it shall be set as BLOCKER bug as it is very important/mandatory to use -lto option on embedded firmware (to speedup code and lower code size ...)
I see it is not even fixed for new GCC version "Release GCC ARM Embedded 5 update 3"
