Expiring same problem too. For KDE environment this issue can be fixed via extension https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/kde-wallet-password-integratio/ but there are no easy-to-install way for Gnome.

So most of users stores Firefox passwords non-secured like as plain text, this is large security hole!

Using master password is not good solution, because users will must enter it after each restart firefox.

Google Chrome have build-in support for Gnome Keyring and KDE Wallet, so will be good if Firefox can have this support too!
