Wow, this is odd in the DpkgTerminalLog:

Setting up couchdb (0.10.0~svn809550-0ubuntu1) ...

 * Starting database server couchdb /usr/bin/couchdb: 1: cannot create /dev/null: Permission denied

/usr/bin/couchdb: 1: cannot create /dev/null: Permission denied

/usr/bin/couchdb: 1: cannot create /dev/null: Permission denied

Apache CouchDB needs write permission on the PID file: /var/run/couchdb/couchdb.pid

I believe this has been fixed in other couchdb package uploads. Is anyone able to reproduce it?

rmcbride, what did you find? I upgraded cleanly from Jaunty to 0.10.0~svn818859-0ubuntu1 .
