FTP service is definitely a feature we want to support. It's true
that there seem to be more quirks in FTP servers than in SFTP and the
protocol is not quite as capable - understandable considering their
relative ages.

If you would like to try 1.18rc1 when it comes out and report on the
other bug (or a new bug) whether it works ok that would be
appreciated.
