As michaelj noted, this probably shouldn't be treated as a platform-specific issue. It would be helpful to be able to configure a branch to be case insensitive (but possibly case-preserving), even if the underlying file system is case sensitive. I ran in to this working with a branch that was intended for a Windows deployment but was developed on Linux. It would be helpful to have the branch ignore case everywhere.
