Bug Description
Binary package hint: konsole
When trying to launch a root session of Midnight Commander in Konsole, it crashes. I managed to fix the problem by opening an ordinary session (non root) and going to Tools>Configure Konsole and opening Session Tab. Under Session tab I selected Root Midnight Commander and found the following in the execute box.
su -c 'mc -c'
I changed this to sudo su -c 'mc -c' and the program now starts normally. Not even sure if this is a bug but shouldn't it be enabled by default? I found this with Ubuntu 6.06 and with Kubuntu 6.10.
Cheers,
Alastair

I guess you mean "New Root Midnight Commander" from the Konsole session menu.
This is then a konsole bug, and I can confirm it in Ubuntu Hardy.
When starting the session, you get asked for the password, but then it exits, probably with "su: Authentication failure"
