Bug Description
Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird
I have created a "Unix movemail" account in Thunderbird, to get emails sent locally by cron jobs, etc.
I have "Check for new messages on startup" and "Check for new messages every [1] minutes" turned on in the account settings, but I never see any new messages unless I go to the inbox of that account and click the "Get Mail" button.
The package version is 1.5.0.9-

I can confirm this bug. This has always been the behavior of thunderbird for me, i.e. for all releases ever. It is still present in 1.5.010 in feisty. Also I think this is a duplicate for Ubuntu #51492. The upstream bug number is Bug 278383. No progress for a couple of years.
