only get white background

Bug Description

I currently tried to test unity on two machines and in both cases all I get after selecting Unity netbook in gdm and logging in is a white background. seems as no services get started.

how can i help you to help me?

Thanks for testing unity and trying to make it better.
Can you try please:
- apt-cache policy mutter
- apt-cache policy libclutter-1.0-0
- apt-cache policy unity

And paste there result there?

The problem is mutter, I take it you have the gnome-shell testing ppa installed? I dont know the root cause of the problem but if you downgrade mutter to the version provided by the unity ppa it should solve the problem.

I deleted
    rm ~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session/*
to clear my previous gnome session to get unity to complete loading. I had to reset the background image using
    gnome-appearence-properties
too, but that may be unrelated to the core issue.
