Bug Description

Binary package hint: dpkg

Started the upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 LTS
Everything was fine until the installation started processing it.
This is the second attempt as the first one failed to boot at all so I re-installed 9.10 again then did the whole process.

This error came up during the clean up process.

Peter.

Both reports you filed makes me suspect a hardware problem. Could you please run a memory test and a filesystem check ?

Hi Jean-Baptiste,

I can do that if you can help me out on how to run the memtest as I do not get to see any grub screen or selections of any sort so I am not sure what I need to be doing.

When I turn on the pc, just loads up straight to Ubuntu without trouble, I gather that these tests needs to be done during the booting phase.

Just let me know what I need to do and I am happy to deliver their outputs.

Cheers,
Peter.

Never mind, I figured this out by changing my approach. I loaded an older version CD of Ubuntu 9.10 and selected the memory test.

I ended up about 61,000 errors from the memory. So I had my wife's older computer and changed their RAM chips and started again with a memory test, not one megging error showed up. bummer.

I guess this fixes the memory issue. now to re-try and re-do the installation for mesa.

Stay tuned.
