Bug Description
Binary package hint: testdrive
There's a new upstream release of TestDrive that includes an important feature that we would like to see in Lucid.
Currently, TestDrive obtains the Ubuntu Development release statically. This means that whenever there's a new Devel Release of Ubuntu, the user hast to manually change the codename for TestDrive, making it a tedious process. For example, now to be able to TestDrive Maverick ISO's in lucid, users will have to change that manually.
However, the new upstream release adds the functionality to obtain the devel release codename automatically by fetching launchpad. We (Dustin Kirkland, and I), feel it is important to have this new functionality into lucid due to LTS.
The new upstream (which only includes this feature) has been throughly tested and everything works as expected.
I have tested Andres' feature, and I really like it. From a long term
support perspective, having Testdrive dynamically check for a new
release if the cache expires (after a week), would be a lot better
than rolling out an SRU every time Ubuntu releases.
I +1 Andres' request, as Testdrive upstream, and package maintainer.
