Weird, why'd this get filed against xorg? Seems to be an issue in the linux apport hook. Refiling their way.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Arnd,
There have been some updates to apport recently. Have you continued to encounter this issue?

Thanks!

Why did you think it was fixed?
Actually I didn't bother to test, but I believe the bug is still there:

arnd@rhea:~$ pylint /usr/share/apport/package-hooks//source_linux-meta.py | egrep "^E"
No config file found, using default configuration
E:112:add_info: Undefined variable '_

If you have any reason to believe that it was fixed I can try again, if you wish.
I'll need to reboot the system which is a bit of a hassle right now.

Best regards,
Arnd

Just happened with /usr/share/apport/package-hooks/source_xorg.py in Maverick, too (bug 507492).

This is probably rather a problem with Apport, not the hooks itself - otherwise please add Xorg (and others) to the the list of affected packages, too.

I will triage this according to my guess: invalid for Linux.

This bug in source_linux-peta.py as been fixed in

  * data/package-hooks/source_linux.py: Drop _() i18n, it's not available in
the hook and causes crashes. (LP: #538368)

I'm closing this report and unduplicating #615494 which needs a fix too but is a different hook.
