Bug Description

Far from a new bug but a continuation of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/476652
I'm adding additional comments to that page.

Filing as 'new' to add the extra debug info.

Good luck as this has become a showstopper for me. I think I may have to abandon ubuntu soon :(

Kimdino, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. According to your logs, your 'Master' volume is set to 0%. Are you experiencing the stuttering effect that the other report mentions? Is this why you have the volume turned down?

Please use this report for your bug reporting to avoid a mixing of information. If both reports stems from the same cause, I will later mark these as duplicates.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. Re. The volume setting - woops. Not sure how or when this happened. However, raising the volume has not solved my sound problems.

I have just tried playing a video with Totem and the sound disappeared after just three minutes. At the same time the video started stuttering. I had this same behaviour at one point with Kaffeine when my system was KDE based. However, some of the other behaviour feels different so I would like to run the system a bit longer to ascertain whether it is the same or just similar.

I should also clarify that since my original post on
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/476652 I have changed the system from Kubuntu 9.10 to Ubuntu 9.10 (Gnome) via a clean install.

If it is the same problem I have a lot more info to post that may help but at this moment I am very much afraid of possibly merely adding confusion to the issue. So please bear with me a day or two while I check a bit further.

Apologies for the delay in getting back on this one.

Initially I was unable to unearth anything useful to post for diagnostic purposes. I was then sent off to site for a few weeks. On my return I needed to install Vector SOHO on the computer in order to match the clients Slackware system. So I regret that I am unable to post anything further that may be helpful except that Vector has been running faultlessly on the same system for five weeks thus indicating that it was not a hardware problem.

My apologies for not being able to help further with this but I thought I'd better let you know so that you can close this report.

Kimdino, thank you for updating us for this bug report. Because we will be unable to further investigate this issue, I will have to mark this report as "Invalid". I wish you luck on your Vector system, and thank you for trying out Ubuntu!
