Bug Description

Binary package hint: kpackagekit

1. Open Software Management in System Settings under user.
2. Try to change Update Settings. Just for example: check every day, automatic installation of all updates.
3. Apply.

Actual Results:
Settings isn't applied. You can check /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades isn't changed. Updates isn't installed automatically.

Expected Results:
Settings is applied. Updates is installed automatically every day.

There is same feature (Update Settings Management) in Edit Origins, but this version have less functional (it's allow to install automatically only secure updates, not all). Also please check original description: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kpackagekit/+bug/477250/comments/0 Looks like edit update settings in Edit Origins doesn't work as expected too.
It's very strange to see manaement of such important settings with diffrent functional in different places of one application (Software Management).

https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/477250 has a more complete description than this, no setting under automatic update options work and you can't even turn it on or off

Same issue on my one of two Lucid Lynx(10.04) installations; Every two weeks notifying doesn't work => only every day.

I solved it with reinstalling all installed packages with name *packagekit* (easy with synaptic), after that I went to the kpackagekit settings tab again, selected "every day"-checking , then back to "every 2 weeks"-checking, "close"-Button.
Afterwoods I pressed the apply-button and closed kpackagekit.
=> Restart and notifying is working again.

Best regards, Bernhard
