gdm 2.27.4-0ubuntu5 (karmic)
I'm not sure if it's gdm fault, but given the keyboard layout problems after login in the past, I assume so.
My keyboard configuration in /etc/default/
XKBMODEL="pc105"
XKBLAYOUT="de"
XKBVARIANT=
XKBOPTIONS=
I've also the same configured in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Yet after auto-login to gnome I only get a german layout with deadkeys. Using gnome-keyboard-
For some reason "compose:menu" seems to be set correctly at login.

thank you for your bug report, do you get the issue if you don't use autologin but enter your login and password rather?
