Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I just did a dpkg-reconfigure -a and noticed this:

Adding extension /usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.0/program/mailmerge.py...javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Please ensure that the package openoffice.org-java-common is installed.
If it is already installed then try removing ~/.openoffice.org/3/user/config/javasettings_Linux_*.xml
Extension has already been added: org.openoffice.legacy.mailmerge.py

openoffice.org-java-common is installed. The files that are suggested for removal do not exist.

Do you also have a JRE installed such as openjdk-6-jre?

Hi, Chris. I apparently did not have a jre installed. I didn't know that I needed to do so. I just did an install of openjdk-6-jre. I would retest, but I am not sure which package caused the message. If this is the problem, then really only the message needs improvement.

This happened due to previously depending on saxon which pulled in the JRE, apparently when saxon was dropped we now no longer depend on JRE at all. :-(
