[jaunty] after playing a flash video (youtube) there are a huge amount of wakeups from pulseaudio

How do you check number of wakeups, I would like to test this on my system to confirm.

You should use the powertop tool.

sudo apt-get install powertop

sudo powertop

This is quite an annoying bug because it reduces battery life.
It doesn't happen with Banshee or Skype for example.
Even if the culprit is likely the adobe flash plugin I think it should be worked around because a lot of people uses it every day.

To reproduce this bug start the powertop tool, play a video on youtube with firefox, then close that tab. You'll see that huge amount of wakeups from pulseaudio.

If PulseAudio is configured in glitch-free mode, then this symptom will occur. You can either not use PulseAudio or configure a different resampler. Obviously neither option is optimal.

How can I configure a different resampler?

It's a big problem if this bug isn't fixed before Jaunty is shipped because it'll reduce battery life on a lot of notebooks.

This bug was fixed in the package pulseaudio - 0.9.14-0ubuntu11
