We should probably wait for Debian to package this, and then we can sync it.

Work in Debian will probably be delayed due to some license problems sorry.

I would recommend against directly syncing from debian; because of debian's very strict licensing rules, some data files there will be replaced with lower-quality ones. Since Ubuntu is less strict, it's much more likely that those higher-quality data files can be used

The content was non-free and was removed per dfsg. Personally I think it's a good idea for Ubuntu to sync from Debian; it avoids license issues for us, and avoids an otherwise significant supertuxkart delta.

This now needs a FFe. I'll try and do some testing later and write something up.

FFe:

PROPOSED CHANGES:
New major upstream release. Sync from Debian.

RATIONALE:
Benefits of this version are significant, including new maps, game modes, physics, kart handling, powerups, sound effects, the list goes on.

Tested supertuxkart 0.6.1a+dfsg2-1 on Jaunty. Debian packages install just fine. Game runs properly. I tested menu navigation, and played a quick race of the racetrack map. I didn't encounter any bugs / regressions, the game felt stable and polished. Upstream development included a release candidate, and has already had a bugfix release since 0.6.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
We've had a new supertuxkart release with each Ubuntu release since it appeared with Edgy; it would be nice to continue this tradition with Jaunty :-)

Now that Ubuntu has been updated, how do we go about getting the unstable release of STK?
