Bug Description
The driver has been updated (Bug 315169), but the nvidia-settings package is comparatively ancient, dating back to:
ii nvidia-settings 177.78-0ubuntu2.1 Tool of configuring the NVIDIA graphics driv

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
