Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-base-core

I open Open Office (template), I choose Calc to run oocalc.
I drop Help menu and I choose Report a Bug...
Now a message window appears:

Network problem
Could not upload report data to crash database:
<urlopen error (-5, 'No hay direcci\xc3\xb3n asociada con el nombre de host')>

This message was expected, because my computer was offline (no internet connection).

What happens now?
X session freeze, having to restart it with Ctrl Alt Backspace.

What was expected to happen?
The message should can be closed and I should can continue working normally.

Using Kubuntu 8.10 (amd64), all security and intrepid-updates installed, any backports or inpepid-proposed updates are not installed.
Open Office version 2.4.1-11ubuntu2.1

I have tested with synaptic and again with OpenOffice.org-Impress, with synaptic, no problems, with OpenOffice.org-Impress, the freeze succeeded again.

I think this is issue is because openoffice uses launchpad-integration binary and if you run launchpad-integration binary when Firefox is not already running it does not return like it does if Firefox is running.

launchpad-integration binary should always return regardless if the program it is running returns or not.

Note in my testing I was not able to make X itself hang, but OOo hung until the Firefox browser was closed since launchpad-integration itself did not return until after Firefox was closed. However in cases where Firefox is already running launchpad-integration immediately returns.

I am working around this in openoffice.org, but it should be fixed in launchpad-integration as well.
